the american abstract expressionist painter helen frankenthaler (1928-2011) was a vital contributor to the history of postwar american painting, working across decades of changes in style. this book was published alongside the exhibition "helen frankenthaler: master paintings" which took place between october 4 and november 17, 2007 at ameringer and yohe gallery (now miles mcenery gallery) in new york. the book marked the third exhibition of the artists work at ameringer and yohe and brought together key paintings spanning four decades of the artist’s career. many of the paintings included had not been exhibited publicly in a generation.
