utopian sci-fi novel by celebrated speculative fiction author. one of seven of le guin's hainish cycle novels, "the dispossessed" is set on anarres and urras, fictional inhabited worlds of the star tau certi. the novel traverses capitalistic and anarcho-syndicalist societies, exploring their respective economic and political situations. this was one of a very small number of books to recieve the hugo, locus, and nebula awards for best novel.
