erotic novel by aubdrey beardsley with beautifully crafted illustrations in the artist's well-known style. beardsley (1872-1898) left the work unfinished when he died of tuberculosis. the first parts of his work were published in 1907 as a manuscript titled "the story of venus and tannhäuser," referencing the legend on which it was based. this edition, completed by john glassco, was released in 1959.
