this edition of carroll's psychedelic classic features 44 beautiful color plates by tarrant (1888-1959), who was renowned for her delicate and enchanting illustrations. printed in great britain by ward, lock & co. for the american market.
although the cover states "48 illustrations," this appears to be a publisher's error. the list of illustrations at the front of the book enumerates 44 plates, all of which are present in this copy. every known copy of this edition includes 44 plates, and this has been confirmed by collectors and bibliographers alike.
